Faboolous Week!………

What a fabulous week our class…..2rrific students had!

Montessori students are encouraged to become independent lifelong learners. It is much involved in achieving this goal. Students in our classroom work to build and improve their time management skills by setting a daily goal and working to achieve it during the morning work block. A dependable morning routine is important to our children. They are learning how much time is available and how to use it wisely. We stress the importance of the work cycle with our students which includes, selecting a lesson, working with concentration and focus, completing the work, and then putting it away.
Our Cultural lessons this week have focused on preparation for our field trip to the American Village next week. We have taken a deep dive into the life of the Pilgrims

REMINDERS:
On Monday, October 31st, the Halloween parade will be on Monday at 9:00 on the track. Families are welcome to attend. For the Halloween Parade, your child should come in costume with a paragraph about their character. Also, make sure your child has a complete change of clothes since we will only be wearing the costume at the beginning of the day.

Tuesday, November 1st is our field trip. We will be leaving around 8:30 am so have your child here no later than 8am. Send a sack lunch and disposable drink. Have your child dress for the weather with comfortable walking shoes.
Have a lovely weekend with your family!

WooHoo!!! Hedwig Wins!!!!!

What a blast we had at the 2022 JBMA PTO Fall Festival! The PTO always does such a nice job with the festival activities. And…. this year..it was so much fun to win the Jack-o-Lantern Contest! Our students were so proud of their efforts! We thank our fabulous room mothers for all their help! Thank you all so much for supporting our classroom and school by attending and sponsoring the annual festival!

This week, again we were busy learning new lessons as well as reinforcing others with extra practice. Dr. Montessori designed a series of Grammar materials that bring this work to life and makes it another sensorial experience. Each symbol has a shape and color that were chosen to have meaning and purpose. Studying grammar helps all students become better writers and readers.

Our students were also treated with an opportunity to watch a movie trailer version of the upcoming play “James and the Giant Peach” in our beautifully remodeled gymnasium! Classroom 2-rrific  has many of the play’s amazing actors in it this season, so we are all very excited!

We look forward to seeing you all for the play this evening!

We ended our busy week with a beautiful cultural presentation on Diwali, a festival of lights. Students explained the significance of Diwali.  Students decorated clay diyas, created a Diwali greeting card, and enjoyed Indian snacks! We are proud of the diversity at JBMA and thankful for the enthusiasm and support of our parent community!

Bruno Montessori Academy wishes you all a Happy Diwali and a Prosperous New Year!!

Enjoy Autumn!

October 11 – October 14, 2022

Wishing a colorful, cool, cozy autumn to all our Class-2rrific families!

Our students have enjoyed the cooler recess times and collecting beautiful fallen leaves from the grounds. We, of course, could not let this moment slip by without spending time on the autumnal equinox and the changes it brings. Our children are so observant! Of course, they have noticed the obvious signs of fall, but also the subtle difference in the intensity of the daylight and the beautiful blue of the sky. It is a joy to see the wonder in their faces when they make these observations.
In addition, students have enjoyed the Story of Writing, inertia- friction and motion experiments, and learning vertebrate and invertebrate characteristics and classification. Another busy, busy week in the books for our bright and inquisitive students.
Our emphasis in the classroom this week has been “concentration and effort”. We have discussed quiet working environments, versus noisy, raucous surroundings. All the students agree they can focus and do better work when the room is free from distraction. We have brainstormed ways that we can help make our classroom a distraction-free-zone by saving outside discussions and playful activities for an appropriate time, using quiet voices and feet, and staying focused on a lesson through to completion. We can all benefit from the advice of our students. We are also discussing “beautiful work” versus “getter done” work! It is really more about focus as opposed to extra effort. When you are focused, the work is almost always lovely! Our children are excellent encouragers and often notice and compliment each other when a work is done with care!

Please attend the Fall Festival on Sunday, the 16th, 2-4 pm!!!
****VOTE for our HEDWIG the Jack-o-Lantern!!
Lots of thanks to our room moms for making this happen!!

Yay! It’s October!

October 3 – October 6, 2022

Yay! It is October!

What a beautiful short week we had! Students were busy learning and reviewing lessons, enjoying our read-aloud sessions, cultural lessons, and Special Classes.

Reading and Handwriting are intertwined. In studies, students who practice handwriting do better at reading and spelling. As research shows, forming letters by hand while learning sounds activates reading circuits in the brain that promote literacy.
Our students have an opportunity to read silently, both in and outdoors.
Students are encouraged to have correct and consistent pencil grip, posture, and letter formation. We are working diligently this year to learn correct D’Nealian print and cursive writing. You may encourage your child by noticing when their work is beautiful!

We are excited for our upcoming Fall Festival! This year we will be having a dunking booth where the students can purchase tickets for an opportunity to get some of their favorite teachers and staff wet.  There will also be an opportunity to purchase ornaments, plates and mugs that they can create from Do It Yourself crafts. Ms.Melanie will send out more information next week.

Enjoy Reading and practice Handwriting! Have a wonderful weekend!
