Consistency is the key!

February 21 – February 24, 2023

We would just like to take a moment this week and acknowledge our students for their consistent effort with spelling words so far this year!

As you know, weekly spelling assessments are our only “test”. We tackle phonics, spelling patterns, blends, digraphs, prefixes, suffixes, sight words, and challenge words with our lists;  not to mention a commitment to homework/personal responsibility,  experience with test-taking skills, and effort versus results. As the only numerical “grade” students earn in our class, it’s fun to watch their faces light up when they see the positive fruits of their effort. We appreciate all the support from home with these building blocks.

Last night was so much fun at the first annual PTO Dinner, which was held at Jubilee Joes! The evening air was perfect for dining on the new open-air patio, with live music, delicious cuisine, and wonderful company! The auction baskets, put together by our room mothers, were AWESOME and met with enthusiasm by the winning bidders. Thank you to all who attended or contributed to support our school – all monies raised will directly benefit our students and classrooms!

NO school Monday, February 20th!!!

Remember Monday, February 20th is Presidents’ Day and we have no school! Enjoy the long weekend with rest and relaxation!

We had such a fun week! LE Class 2-rrific appreciates all the efforts of our room mothers in planning and bringing our Valentine’s extravaganza to life!! Our children made such adorable boxes and bags to hold their Valentines! There were so many thoughtful expressions of friendship and kindness from LE Class 2-rrific classmates to each other and their teachers! It was a beautiful day!

We also enjoyed joining Classroom 3 to watch “The Secret Garden”! We have been reading the book and it was a great ending celebration! Ask your child to speak a little Yorkshire, for fun!

What happened to January?

January 30 – February 3, 2023

What happened to January? How could it be gone so quickly?

This week flew by!!! One minute we were writing our spelling words for the week and the next minute we were taking the test! Our days are so jammed packed with lessons and fun they simply skip by! The children have been patient with the weather this week as it has kept us inside for recess for a few days, but their happy, creative minds have kept them busy with drawing, games, and reading during their downtime!

Our cultural lessons this week have involved the main parts of the “always exciting” nematodes. Ask your student about the worm kingdom! We have learned so much about the three groups of worms!  The Montessori lesson explaining the needs of humans is always fun as students learn how needs have been met throughout the years!  The water cycle is an experiment and lesson that is interesting to see in action. All students benefit by learning new vocabulary! Maria Montessori believed her teachers could take large concepts, break them into small manageable parts, and be able to teach the children so much more than was originally thought!  This is the idea behind the students learning about the parts of a mountain. Why not learn the correct names of things and use them properly? Ask your students about some of the cultural subjects they have enjoyed this week!

New homework was assigned for the month of February! We are learning that more and more of our classroom families are having trouble getting on to Google Classroom to see assignments! Please email Ms. Jessica, as she is our tech consultant here at JBMA. But, we have also sent home hard copies of the original assignment posted on Google Classroom and the forms needed to be successful this month!
