And to all a good night….. Happy Holidays!

December 12, 2022 – December 16, 2022

What a wonderful time of the year!

We were so thankful to have a real Christmas tree in the room this year! It was covered in lights that created such a warm and cozy glow! The children carefully constructed paper chains and beautiful handmade ornaments to add to the tree’s natural beauty! It became a gathering place for our students and presents alike, and made our party,  book exchange, and gift giving so special! In addition to making each and every ornament on our tree, the children also worked diligently to make a thoughtful handmade gift to surprise their families. It is sweet to see how much effort and care went into these gifts.

A big thank you goes out to our AWESOME room parents! The amazing holiday party was so much fun! The children worked in groups to decorate adorable gingerbread houses. They played  Elf Hunt and Holiday Bingo! Even the treats were hand decorated and so cute! The children helped surprise us with a giant class gift— a raised bed garden for outside the classroom window! So thoughtful!!

We are thankful to Mr. Cross, Jackson, and Joshua’s Father for a lovely Christmas Celebration Presentation! We ended the day by giving our students gift books( of course!) and hugs! Thanks all around for the thoughtfulness of our parents!

On Friday, our pajama-clad students arrived to enjoy a fun day of board games and relaxation and a surprise visit from a pirate (Ms.Kimberly, our awesome Drama Teacher! )…..any guess about the visit, yes that’s right… unveiling the audition details of our upcoming school play “Peter Pan”! We encourage children to explore their interests and try out the auditions!

The excitement continued, as students nibbled popcorn and drank hot chocolate during everyone’s favorite movie, The Polar Express! This year we reinstated an annual tradition known as the Book Exchange! Children participated in a fun game called The Right Family Christmas to gift each other with the books they brought this week! The day culminated with the entire Lower Elementary joining in for the Pizza Party and finishing off a very fun short day to begin our holiday!

We hope each of you has the very best holiday season. Remember to live in the moment! Please encourage your children to read during the break! It’s a skill that must be practiced!

We appreciate your thoughtfulness this holiday season and look forward to seeing you all on January 3, 2023!!

It’s beginning to look a lot like……….

It’s beginning to look a lot like…..

December 5- 9, 2022

There is something so special about working with children at this time of year. You have absolutely so many reasons to get excited or feel the warmth and joy of the holiday season!

Our students were so excited about shopping for their families at the Santa Shop this week. Watching them carefully consider each item and thoughtfully select gifts for their family members would bring a tear to the eye. They took this responsibility very seriously! We thank the Middle School for giving our students this opportunity and for assisting in wrapping each carefully selected purchase.

The Holiday Show was a smashing success! Our Classroom 2-rrific performers took their jobs seriously, but also had a great time singing for the amazing crowd! We thank Mr. Jonathon for helping us return the tradition of a holiday show at Bruno Montessori Academy. We are sure our founder, Mrs. Theresa, would be so proud and happy!

Finally, we ended the week with a fun trip to the Birmingham Children’s Theatre. The performance of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe was well done and the children really seemed to enjoy the change of scenery! Of course, riding on a bus is always fun!!

Please remember the book exchange books are to be brought to school on Thursday, December 15th!

We thank our Bruno Montessori Academy PTO for a delicious special Holiday Breakfast (with great Vegan options), very festive decor, and a beautiful environment that we thoroughly enjoyed! We appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness in making us feel so special!

Getting That Holiday Spirit!

Getting that Holiday Spirit!!!

November 28  – December 02, 2022

We hope our Classroom 2-rrific families had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!

December will be a busy month for us! As you read in the lengthy email (sent December 1st), there are many things to know and plan for this month. If you have not had a chance to read it, please do! There are due dates and signatures that are MUSTS!

We have loved watching our children gel into a classroom family in this first half of the school year. Watching our third-level students grow and show leadership in our family with their actions, such as; stepping up to help a younger or smaller student with a task (without being asked), seeing them teach a younger student a challenging skill, such as shoelace tying or hanging a backpack and a coat on a single hanger;  observing them give comfort to a fellow classmate who is sad or hurt, are all signs of a successful Montessori family classroom. We look to the oldest students as they have had more time to develop these skills and have observed others leading the way in previous classes. We revere them in their elite roles in our classroom as someone the younger students can aspire to emulate in just a few short years. The third-level students are well aware of their responsibilities in the classroom as models and leaders. They do their best to live up to this task. As teachers, we love knowing that this year’s first and second-level students will one day be in the same leadership roles they admire so much today!  We will be amazed at their growth in kindness, patience, and leadership which will help bring another group of children together as a classroom family.  And, we will know who to credit!

Maria Montessori’s plan for a beautiful and successful classroom was and is still brilliant and relevant today!!

Our excitement for the upcoming Holiday Program is evident with the practice and hard work of our amazing Music teacher Mr.Jonathan and all students throughout the school! We look forward to seeing you all on December 8 with great joy!
